The Kudremukh trek starts from the forest check post of small village Mullodi hills which is located at 96km in the district of Chikmagalur that is just 10 km away from the hub Kalasa. To reach this trek is an overnight journey of 335km from Bangalore. The name “Kudremukh” means the “horse face” in the local Kannada language. The name is given to the mountain for its resemblance to the face of a horse. This trek includes a dense forest of trees with water streams flowing at its every corner. Also, a paradise for trekkers from Bangalore, and the peak is the third highest peak of Karnataka. The beauty of this trek is enhanced during the monsoon and post-monsoon. The view from the top looks no less than a green carpet of trees. Kudremukh is also known as the tiny Scotland of India. For those who live nearby Bangalore, this is a perfect spot for trekking. Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit this trek is almost year-round, the temperature is mostly ranging from 25 degrees to 19 degrees. However, if you wish to spend most of your holiday here then the best time to go is between October to May as the park can be witnessed in all its glory. If the sole motive of your trip is to explore wildlife spotting and get those ideal photographs then the perfect time to plan your trip is between December and February.

 

How to Reach

Being located in the heart of the state, Kudremukh National Park can be reached by all three means. This marvellous place is well connected with neighbouring cities by air, rail, and road.

By Air- You can book your tickets to the Mangalore Airport which is the nearest to Kudremukh. Once you reach the airport, you can get a taxi to get to the park.

 

By Rail- If you like to travel by train then get a ticket to the Mangalore central station which is close to Kudremukh. It is close to 100 km from the park. Once you reach the station you can easily get a taxi.

 

By Road- The advantage of Kudremukh place is that it is well connected to most of the major cities by road. That’s why if you want to enjoy an adventurous road trip with a glance of nature you can fill your tank already. You can reach the place by driving your car or even you can take a private bus which is very economical.
